have you tried swaddling?
I read the book The Happiest Baby On The Block, and swear by the methods described in it!
Swaddling worked wonders for us, so did Shushing (making a "Shushing" noise at the baby - it mimicks sounds that the would hear in the womb. The key to doing it though, is that you have to match the same noise level as the baby's cries. If you do it too quietly and they are screaming, they won't be able to hear you).
Some babies hate being held on their back and that encourages their startle reflex. You could try a side-laying position while holding them, or try a wrap or sling type carrier! Those also come highly recommended and are great to use even when they are getting up around 40 lbs! Very comfy too...
Good luck!
I have heard that baby massage is really good for soothing colic. I dont know of anyone around here that specializes it in but I am sure that there are people. You might want to make sure you are doing it right before you attempt it on your own. If you dont want to go to a lesson you can probably get a book on it.
The only other advice I could give you is to take breaks when you need to. If your baby is crying so badly that you are losing your mind, see if you can get someone to watch him or her for a bit. Even half an hour can work wonders on a stressed momma.
Infant massage is a great way to help soothe colic, gas and constipation pains. You can read more about it at IAIM.org.
Wearing your baby in a sling or wrap is also something else that really works for many people. You can read a little more about wearing your baby on the Dr. Sear's website too. In country's where babies are worn regulary they measure crying in minutes not in hours like we do in North America!
Little Bundles in Rothesay offers infant massage courses taught by an IAIM certified instructor and they also offer free classes on babywearing. There are free handouts that you can pick up in the store if you're not able to attend a workshop.
definetly try the INFANCOL liquid drops.. you can add to babies milk. I tried this with my baby and noticed a 100% change within 2 days! you can get it at any drugstore
some of my friends have tried the drops & swear by them... i always swaddled my littl eones and they loved it. I am also a RMT so every night after bath I give them a 10-20min massage... and they loved it! I took all the prenatal and infant massage classes in school (so that helped!) but Ambiance Day Spa and Stylin Mama have teamed up and do 1 day classes (taught by an RMT) so that you can learn how to soothe your little one... its also just great to do regardless, as it has so many benefits! If you cant get into one of these classes, simply ask an RMT for some advice/techniques on massaging your little ones!
